MASSAGE

Utilizing therapeutic massage modalities, we address different issues and systems of your body – pain, circulation, flexibility – and mind – sleep, mental focus, and relaxation.

  • Massage of sen (energy lines), and rhythmic compressions of varying pressure. Described as “passive yoga,” the patient relaxes on a soft mat on the floor, while the practitioner stretches and rotates the spine and limbs for improved circulation, energy, mobility, and flexibility.

  • Kunye is a deep, relaxing, and therapeutic massage. You undress to your comfort level and lie fully draped on a massage table. Medicinal oils and/or creams are applied directly to your skin through long, smooth strokes, circular motions, and direct pressure to the 108 therapeutic points of the body according to the traditional Tibetan medical system. Physiological systems such as muscle, fascia, nerve, blood, lymph, and skeletal and digestive systems are all addressed through Kunye.

TIBETAN MEDICINE

A Tibetan medical health consultation begins with active listening to a patient’s health issues, pulse reading, and observing the eyes and tongue, followed by recommendations for diet and lifestyle, holistic therapies, and herbal remedies.

  • Massage supports the healthiest and longest relationship I’ve had – running.  As a runner for over 30 years I cannot imagine my life without my daily run. Massage keeps my feet on road and trails and my mind healthy.

  • I have been making the (almost) two-hour trip to Elkins for Kiki's Thai massage for TEN YEARS now! What brings me back is the QUALITY of her work, born of the uniting of extreme knowledge and empathy.

    — Suze C.

  • Massage is not only a remedy for the muscles and joints, it also penetrates the psychological landscape of a person. That is what I receive after a massage session with Kyle. He is a soul of wonders – very kind and an exceptional professional.

    —Ludmilla P.

  • The wellness care I receive from [Jivaka] has continuously helped me to get healthier and healthier through these years.  This care has helped me to not only be healthier, it is continuously helping me to avoid emergencies — physical, mental, and emotional emergencies.

    —Barbara C.

  • It's hard to find someone you trust to work through issues that are actively causing you pain. For me that is someone with experience, a shared background, and good execution. I consider myself very fortunate to have Kyle to see, because I know he can help me heal. I've been seeing Kyle for 4 or 5 years now, and he's been an absolute lifesaver.

    —Zachary A.

  • Having participated in several forms of healing including private yoga sessions and Thai massage with Kiki and deep muscular massage and Tibetan treatment with Kyle I can say with certainty that this wellness center holds an incredible space of safety, healing, and love like no other. Both Kiki and Kyle are incredibly attentive, skilled, compassionate practitioners.

  • As a first awakening, the Jivaka Wellness Center, with Kyle Weaner as my counselor, placed the initiative in my hands to relieve my gut ache with a carefully prescribed diet, specific yoga exercises, and one-on-one yoga classes with Kelly Alba.

    — Helen B.

  • I felt comfortable with Kiki. She communicated well making sure I was keeping myself and baby safe during prenatal yoga. She made sure the poses were accessible and offered alternatives. Most importantly she was kind – we laughed and had fun while helping my body be pregnant and prepare for birth. Not only did the classes help with my first delivery, but a few years later I remember some movements and those helped me moved into position, open up, and quickly birth our son.

  • I was lucky enough to connect with Kyle and Kelly the year they opened their studio — the same year I had surgery for early breast cancer. What worried me most wasn’t the surgery itself but what might come after — scar tissue that could limit the work I love, or steal away all the fun, slightly crazy things that make a life feel like a life. That it didn’t turn out that way is largely thanks to Kyle and Kelly. A daily yoga practice under their guidance gave me back full range of motion in my left arm — which, as a left-handed veterinarian, I need for nearly everything. I don’t think I would have recovered as completely anywhere else. Their studio offers more than skilled instruction. It feels like a place of friendship at the end of a long workday. Every friend I’ve ever brought along has been welcomed with open arms, whatever their level of experience.
